Structural Engineer

Overview

JCJ Design Engineering Ltd. has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Structural Engineer to join our growing team in Langley, BC. If you have 10 or more years of previous structural engineering experience and are interested in a diverse range of structural projects, this is an excellent opportunity for you!

 

Responsibilities

  • Providing design, engineering expertise, and/or senior oversight for structural projects in the areas of residential, commercial and industrial using steel, concrete, and wood.

  • Structural assessment of damaged buildings and structures.

  • Attend site meeting and field reviews when required.

  • Project management.

  • Assisting with proposal preparation and business development, and

  • Supervision and mentorship of junior staff.

Requirements

  • Strong communication skills both written and verbal as well as a positive, team-oriented attitude.

  • 10 or more years’ experience in the design of structures such as residential, commercial, and industrial buildings.

  • Registration in good standing as a P.Eng. in BC or any other Canadian province or territory.

  • Struct.Eng. designation will be highly considered.

  • Knowledge and experience with national and provincial building codes including those for steel (CAN/CSA S16), concrete (CAN/CSA A23.3), masonry (CAN/CSA S304.1), and wood (CAN/CSA 086) design.

  • Proficiency with structural engineering software, such as S-Frame.

  • Business development and client relationship skills are strongly desired.

  • Project management and proposal writing experience, and

  • Strong organizational skills and flexibility to manage changing priorities on short notice.
